My family and I hate getting bit by mosquitos!
We all know pollinators are in crisis, less butterflies, bees, and Lightning bugs year after year yet mosquitos somehow get worse. … I get attacked every time I go outside.
Here is some information I’ve gathered I’d like to share with our community who may not know all the latest information out there about mosquito control so perhaps we can reduce our overpopulation together.
1. Spraying doesn’t kill the mosquitos!
Published and peer-reviewed research by Professor David Pimentel shows that on flying insects only 0.0001% of the pesticides on average reached the target pests.
Most mosquitos are within a 3 mile radius so you won’t be able to control a nearby swamp.
2. It’s a colossal waste of money 💰🔥
Since only 0.0001% lands on the target aim you would have to spray 100,000 worth to see any kind of result and even then you can’t account for the nearby locations.
3. Mosquito dunks are more effective - attracts the mosquitos in your area so none can fly into your yard from a neighbors yard and bite you. Extremely cheap. Kills all offspring and reduces local populations.
4. Mosquito killer sprays aren’t selective - the big spray gun kill anything that gets sprayed - even the natural solutions will kill all the bees, lighting bugs, butterfly larva, butterflies, moths, spiders, ladybugs, etc. The oil suffocates them like a plastic sheet of oil. I often find them with their tongue out long

5. Hate all bugs? Well so do mosquitos. Without any competition or bug predators they will keep flying into your yard because you are food and have better success without spiders or territorial insects.
6. Love flowers? Mosquitos are actually pollinators and could be drawn into your yard for your flowers however only pollinate at night. If you spray flowering plants during the day you are killing pollinators. Even all natural solutions say direct applications are not safe.
7. Cover your own skin instead? That is more likely to protect you from bites along with incense and a box fan.
8. Mosquitos like cockroaches are ever evolving and becoming more resistant to pesticides and are becoming more dangerous and disease prone.
9. “Natural” mosquito killer is still a killer.
10. Disease fear is real. Which is why you should kill mosquitos and not their predators. Create a mosquito dunk trap. Cancer rates from our water and air on Long Island are devestatinga way . You are more likely to die of cancer from spraying for mosquitos by adding additional pollutants to our air and drinking water.
